DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The profession of mechanical engineering, involves the design, analysis, and manufacturing of machines. Central to the profession is the importance of innovation and creating new technologies and products. The Department's curriculum is structured to provide students with the analytical tools, technical skills, engineering insights, and practical problem solving abilities that are necessary to convert concepts into reliable, cost-effective, and safe devices and processes. The Department's curriculum provides students with a solid foundation upon which they can build to meet the challenges associated with their individual career paths, and to adapt to the rapidly changing technologies faced by today's engineers.

Workshop

Work shop complex comprises of Fitting, Carpentry, Welding, Smithy, Sheet Metal sections. Apart from that separate Foundry process section enables the students to get 'hands on' experience about Foundry Process. The workshop facilities and experiments promote parallel growth in theoretical and practical skills.

 Machine Shop

The Machine Shop has a number of “UNITECH” Lathes, “BFW” Universal Milling Machine, “Efico”Radial drilling Machine, “Efico” Pillar drilling Machine. Apart from that Gear Hobbing Machine, Cylindrical and Surface Grinding Machines, & Cutter Grinder Machines.

CAD laboratory

CAD laboratory have been established during 2009. At present the laboratories have 60 terminals, networked with one IBM server. Latest software in the CAD area have been purchased and continuously upgraded. The centre is kept open for the students up to midnight. This enables the students and faculty to learn the latest software and carryout the research works. Software available in CAD centre Pro/Engineer, IDEAS, ANSYS etc.,

Metallurgy laboratory

Metallurgy laboratory was established in 2009. The laboratory is equipped with all machinery required for conducting the experiments as per the University syllabus.

 Metrology laboratory

Metrology laboratory was established in 2009. The laboratory is equipped with all modern machinery required for conducting the experiments as per the University syllabus.

 Dynamics laboratory

The Laboratory is furnished with instruments to assess the performance of CAM analysis apparatus, governors, gyroscopic couple and critical speed of shaft. The laboratory is also equipped with dynamic balancing machine, Measurement of frequency (Damped and Undamped, Free and Forced), Determination of Moment of Inertia of connecting rod and fly wheel by Oscillation method, different Strain gauges and dynamometer, Journal bearing apparatus etc.
