Information Technology is the fastest growing technologies in our culture today. One of the ramifications of that growth is a dramatic increase in the number of professions where an understanding of various technologies is essential for success and a proportionate increase in the number and type of students taking courses to learn about them. Our institution focuses in spending every precious moment in maintaining high standards by revising the syllabi to suit the high industrial requirements. The department offers sound and versatile courses for the award of B. Tech degree. An excellent team of faculty members moulds the enthusiastic students to form a very strong software industry to rule the future.

- To the requirements of the customer support engineers of the industry we have a unique hardware-troubleshooting laboratory and advance communications laboratory.

The IT department has excellent infrastructure. It has a well-equipped Computer Lab, Multimedia Lab & Network Lab.
Information Technology or IT quite recently has become so prevalent that it has brought a complete paradigm shift in the way business is carried out. The onset of dot-com boom has made business to go global. The inclusion of prefix "e" to every word spoken by a citizen is testimony to this great shift. To help our students to get exposed to all these developments we at SMVEC have set up the following laboratories.

We have fully equipped Computing center with all new Pentium IV machines running on both Windows 2000 and Linux Servers.
INTERNET FACILITIES
Round the clock internet facility for all students through the D-LINK DP-602 Internet server 10/100 MBPS
SPECIAL FEATURES
Since this filed is characterized by its high obsolescence rate, beyond the regular academic studies, we persuade our students to expose themselves to emerging trends such as Neural Network, Fuzzy Logic Control, Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Algorithmic Language and Parallel Computing. Students also motivated to undergo In-plant training, Industrial Visits, mini-projects works and Paper presentation etc.,
