Electronic Devices And Circuits Laboratory

The basic working principles of electronic instruments such as CRO, Function generator , single and dual power supply, multimeters and components such as IC’s , diodes, transistors, resistors are studied in this lab. The characteristics of electronic devices, amplifiers and oscillators are tested and verified. The operating principle and applications of electronic circuits and devices like amplifier, oscillator, switching circuits, wave shaping circuits and multivibrators are analysed. Various electronic circuits have been designed to know the performance of the electronic devices.

Objectives

  • To understand the basic working principle of electronic devices
  • To specify various active and passive electronic components and devices and identify the terminals and to draw the symbols for different electronic components
  • To investigate , test and verify the characteristics of electronic devices, amplifiers and oscillators

Linear Integrated Circuits and Digital Design Lab

This laboratory helps the students to acquire skills of designing and testing integrated circuits. The main objectives of the lab are to analyze and design various applications of Op-Amp, Designing and constructing the waveform generation circuits, using op-amps and timers. The logic gate functions can be studied and combinational logic circuits, sequential logic circuits are designed and analyzed.

Objectives

  • To learn about the linear and non-linear applications of operational amplifiers

Microprocessor Lab

This laboratory is to give the knowledge and skills are necessary to design a system that makes use of an embedded processor. Understanding the microprocessor and its peripherals, dealing with interrupts, programming timer/counters, serial communication using the UART and analog to digital and digital to analog converters are studied. Microprocessors also control the logic of almost all digital devices, DC motor, Temperature control fuel-injection systems for automobiles.

Objectives

The main focus of this laboratory is to make our student aware of assembly language programming with the help of 8085 instruction sets. This microprocessor (8085) can be interfaced with number of peripherals like LED module, 7-segment display module, stepper motor & servo motor module etc

Scope

  • Students should be able to write assembly language programs, assemble into machine a cross assembler utility and download and run their program on the training boards.
  • Students should be able to design electrical circuitry to the Microprocessor I/O ports in order to interface the processor to external devices.
  • Students should be able to write assembly language programs and download the machine code that will provide solutions real-world control problems such as fluid level control, temperature control, and batch processes.

Process Control Lab

The Practice of automated process control is essential for the effective and efficient operation of today's chemical processes.The Process Control Laboratory provides exposure to feedback control of various process operations such as surge tanks and heaters, as well as to the dynamics of process components such as temperature sensors and pneumatic valves.

Objectives

The purpose of the laboratory is to demonstrate ideas such as

  • How simple feedback systems work.
  • Effects of disturbances and measurement errors.

Scope

  • From this lab the students are benefitted by learning mathematical modeling of various processes and obtaining the tuning parameters to control the process.

Sensors and Transducers Lab

In this lab the students acquire knowledge on various transducers. Apart from transducers the students also gets experience in working with sensors for various process measurements. This imparts the students with the knowledge and working with transducers and sensors for various industrial applications. Also the students used to know the calibration of measuring device and the process variables can be measured using various sensors.

Industrial Automation Lab

Technological advancements in process monitoring, control and industrial automation over the past decades have contributed greatly to improve the productivity of virtually all manufacturing industries throughout the world. Through this Industrial Automation lab the students get exposed to Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controller, Batch Control, PID, Advanced Control, Measurement, Human Machine Interface HMI, Process Control OPC, Measurement, Process Instrument and Industrial Automation Training.

Objectives

  • This course introduces you to practical methods of automatic control of machines, processes and systems.
  • All major parts of a modern industrial control system will be described and their principles explained. These include the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), as the system brain, various field devices, which allow the system to sense and affect the controlled environment, and communication between the system components.
  • The principles of developing PLC programs and practical examples of control systems will be also presented.

Scope

  • To develop a PLC program for an automatic control system of a medium degree of complexity.
  • To select the right hardware for a given application.

Objectives

This lab gives potential for using simulated instruments in the laboratory. These graphical programs will let you to obtain data from outside the computer and incorporate it into your program design. Scope
